What my alpine vacation taught me about setting boundaries, building trust, and leadership

I’m freshly back at my desk after an incredible and restorative two-week journey through the Alps with my hubby. We traveled across some of Switzerland, Austria, and Germany - hitting up: Zurich, Lucerne, Innsbruck, Zell Am See, Salzburg, and Munich.

While Europe was facing a record-breaking heat wave (OMG so☀️), we committed to making the absolute most of every moment - and we did! We hiked mountain trails, chowed down on delicious local food, and got into freezing glacier lakes to cool down.

My absolute favorite memory happened in Zell Am See [in Austria]. In a single afternoon, we went from sledding down a wet, snowy glacier peak to dipping straight into a pristine alpine lake at the base of the mountain. Talk about a sensory reset. 😍

When I look back at those photos, the word that keeps echoing in my mind is vibrancy.✨

As an empowerment coach, I often ask my clients:

  • If you were designing your life and career entirely around what is important to you, what would change?

  • What are the non-negotiables that make you feel like you are truly thriving, not just surviving?

Your vibrant life is a highly personal blend of your deepest values, aspirations, and joyful experiences. It is a reflection of your authentic self.

For me, experiencing the wonders of the world, pushing my boundaries are top core values.

And what I know is - You cannot live a vibrant life if you are constantly too exhausted, burned out, or "checked-in" to enjoy it.

Here is a piece of corporate reality that might surprise you: while running my coaching business, I also maintain a 9-to-5 role. And for the entire two weeks I was in Europe, I completely disconnected. 👍 I left my work phone behind, didn't look at emails, and didn't spend my hikes worrying about what was piling up in my inbox.

When I returned, my manager didn't flood my calendar or expect immediate fire-fighting. ➡️ Instead, she intentionally structured my first few days back so I could ease into my workload.

If you are currently working in an environment where taking time off feels like a punishable offense, please hear me on this: high-integrity, compassionate leadership DOES exist. You deserve it, and you have the power to seek it out.

  • For the individual contributor: True self-advocacy isn’t just about negotiating a higher salary. It is about verbalizing what you want, and setting clear boundaries that protect your mental wellness and personal peace.

  • For the people-leader: You set the cultural standard 💯. If you are constantly checking in while on vacation, or demanding immediate turnaround times from employees who just stepped off a plane, you are breeding burnout. True leadership means creating an environment where rest is respected as a necessity, not a luxury.

If you are currently reading this from a place of exhaustion, feeling like your career is entirely consuming your life, let’s change the narrative.

Whether you need to rejuvenate your resume to pivot into a more-aligned work culture, map out a strategic career transition, or master the art of "high-stakes" boundary setting, I am here to partner with you.

I am currently accepting a limited number of new 1:1 Empowerment Coaching clients. Let’s work together to build a life that supports, rather than compromises, your ultimate vibrancy.
